Harborough 1 vs Leicester Squash Club

The first team played their third match of the season in the Leicestershire against the Leicester club.  With the team's number 3 climbing the Lake District mountains for his Duke of Edinburgh Gold award, super-sub Simon Turner stepped in at number 5 for the second time.  Turner turned in a fine performance and despatched his opponent with a comfortable 3-0 win.  Nick Loomes elevated to number four notched up his second win in three outings beating Steve Smith by three games to two.  The fifth game was a bit too close for comfort but Loomes hung in well to win it 12-10.  Meanwhile Martin Geear at number 1, back from a week's injury break, lost 3-0 to the strapping 15-year-old George Parker 9-11, 7-11, 6-11.

At number 2 Steve Ward claimed his second win on the season beating Ben McNulty in a comfortable 3-0.  Match of the night was between Georges older brother Luke Parker and Mark Christison.  Christison got off to a good start winning the first game 11-4 as Parker made many unforced errors.  Parker upped the pace in the second and third games and following some fine retrieving went 2 games to 1 up.  Christison fought characteristically hard in the fourth & fifth games and eventually overcame a despondent opponent - Christison maintaining his 100% record of 3-2 wins this year!

A good 4-1 result for the team following a 3-2 loss against Abbey Sports & a 3-2 win against Leicester squash club leaves the team in a comfortable 6th place in the league.
