Northants 3rd team were at home to Kettering Rugby Club 6 this week and made it three out of three wins for 2011. The ladies - Lin Leach (5) and Sandy Lane (4)  - were on first and Lin had a straightforward 3-0 win with her opponent failing to find the wall with his serves and making too many errors. Sandy lost the first game and went well down in the second before getting into her stride and intimidating Andy Bowen by a cunning mix of accurate lobs and nearly knocking him off his feet (all 6 foot and more of him!).  Sandy looked well in command in the 4th and Andy was tiring but he rallied in the 5th and took the match 3-2.  Barrie Dowsett (3) had a similarly tough match taking it to the wire to win 10-8 in the 5th.  Kean was too fit and quick for his opponent and romped home to a 3-0 win so the match was in the bag for Harborough when Kev Loomes went on at no 1against Martin Hill.  Kev started strongly and we were treated to some entertaining squash and even more entertaining banter from the marker (Sandy) but a close final game went to Martin for a 3-2 win. Still a good result with Harborough winning 16-8 - can we keep up this winning streak?  Well, this week's opponents were bottom of the league and next week we meet Club Diana 6 who are top but we're ready for them!
