Leicester 2 v Hinckley 3 25th Feb

Leicester 2 managed ato grasp a hard fought win over the higher placed team on friday thanks to the captains last ditch efforts.

Before this Steve Avil had won 3-1 at 4th string in a match he always looked to be in control of.A pleasing result against  a player he had lost to at Hinkley who has an awkward style of play to contend with. Jon Maynard was also on court, in these first matches, but unfortunately  lost 3-0 at 5th string in a match that was closer than the score suggests.  The next 2 matches went on with an out of sorts John MacDonald losing 3-0 in quick time.

The 3rd string match took considerably longer. Nick Crossley lost the 1st game won the next 2 but seeming in control lost the fourth to force a 5th and final game. After 55 mins Nick appeared to have tired out his opponent Gary Goddard and won3-2 to set  up the decider for  captain Martin Thompson.

After takng the 1st game his opponent took the next 2 looking in control and Martin was already giving himself advice as to where he needed to improve. The advice must have been good as he took the 4th and in the final game came back from 4-1 down to steal a memorable win and a win for the team. A good night was rounded off with a good curry!
