Leicester 1 scrape another win

The Leicester 1st team scraped another win last Tuesday against Leicester Tennis club.  Mike Turney went two games up before Jez Dilks, who usually plays better as the match progresses, levelled the match at 2-2.  Turney won the fifth game comfortably dropping just 4 points.  Mark Christison, in similar fashion, won the first two games against Darren Mould only for Mould to draw level and take the match to a fifth game.  Christison trailing in the fifth fought back well to win it 11-9.

Jack Turney won the first game against Ben McNulty but failed to find his length and width and went down 3 games to 1.  At number 2 Steve Ward faced he rapidly improving George Parker who is ranked number 1 in the country at under 15.  The match was of the highest quality with great shots and court coverage by both players.  Parker won by three games to love despite each game being very close.

Martin Geear at number 1 played Dan Busby - who arguably should be playing behind in the in-form Parker.  Busby, not the tightest of players, had his shots picked off by Geear who went 2-0 up before losing the third and going 10-7 down in the fourth.  Geear pulled back to 10-all and, helped by a generous let from marker Turney (who was having a battle with his contact lenses), won the game 12-10 & the match 3-1.

Next week we're playing away to David Lloyd.
