Northants 2nd Team downed by Kettering Rugby

Despite Northants 2nd team TRYing hard, they couldn't CONVERT this into a win at Kettering Rugby 4s on wednesday evening.

Andy Reuthe at 5 struggled to get going following his achilles problem and went down to Steve Chester.

Andy Fraser levelled the match score, beating Steve Laughton in straight games, with his usual control and variety.

Game of the night was at 3 between the two youngsters, Tim Arthur and George Willis - most of the rallies belonged at a higher level and it looked as if it would be a long match - however Tim was unable to kill off the dogged determination of the much improved Kettering player and went down to his first defeat of the season also in straight games.

Ian Shirley, playing at 2, found himself 0-2 down to Richard Smith - Ian then fought back to 1-2, but was unable to find his usual width/length in the 4th game, losing 1-3.

Earl Harrison started strongly at 1 against Ashley Nunn, stylishly winning the first game 9-6 - however Ashley retired hurt in the second game, giving Earl a 3-0 victory.

Next week is a cup week, however we have a bye, so next game is home to Cripps2 on November 10th.
